I’ve not blogged for a while, the Share your World questions make it easy to get back into the groove….
What is your favorite animal?
That’s easy – a little dog called Tiger. She was my beloved pet whippet. Sadly she died last year. I miss her a lot but still remember her wet nose, snuffling in my ear and her soft fur that sometimes she liked to rub into fox poo (yuk!) and if possible cow poo (yuk!) on long walks through fields. Tiger responded to the name Rabbit as well as Tiger. She looked like a Rabbit when she was a puppy – with her ears held straight up in the air – so the name stuck. Tiger Rabbit.
I also like ants – they like to collaborate. I like it when humans collaborate too.
What is your favorite comfort snack food?
Chocolate. What else is there?! Chocolate is supposed to stimulate the same feelings and sensations we experience when we are in love. How?
What subject would you like to study in depth, if given the time to do so?
Mass collaboration. Imagining what’s possible when the world collaborates. At the moment i am looking at citizen science and what possibilities that might offer biomedical research. I am lucky to have a fellowship from the Wellcome Trust to explore that.
What object do you always have with you when travelling and why?
My brain – try leaving home without it! Its a fascinating object – an incredible & hungry archive. It’s looking forward to next week, when i go to a few new places with new people doing new stuff, like going to Mozilla London for a Popathon with filmmakers and developer peeps to make interactive stories using the web, an awayday in Hertfordshire with Wellcome Trust peeps and a conference, MuseumNext in Amsterdam where i am giving a talk. I am nervous about all these new experiences, but the brain is very curious and excited.
